We are seeking a seasoned, highly energetic Business Development Director to lead front-line business development efforts in the Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) space. In this high-paced competitive environment, you will be responsible for guiding qualified leads through a proven, successful sales process. Operating as the face of our firm, you will engage directly with business owners as well as their trusted advisors to build rapport, understand the client’s personal and professional goals while delivering a successful solution in driving the Benchmark International value proposition.

Success in this role requires a deep understanding of effective sales processes, strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, and a disciplined follow-up approach. This is a senior-level, field-based origination role ideal for candidates who are willing and eager to travel 25% – 35% to meet with potential clients.

Job Responsibilities

• Quickly engage with and establish a trusting relationship with potential clients which are provided to you through our direct outreach in a virtual or in-person environment. 
• Conduct client-specific industry related research and financial analysis to assess the salability of potential clients' businesses.
• Present Benchmark International's services and tailored M&A solutions to prospective clients in a detailed proposal.
• Negotiate contract terms and fees to ensure alignment with client expectations and company standards.
• Collaborate with internal teams to prepare comprehensive business engagement packages for each client.
• Meet or exceed all sales and performance goals, contributing to the company's growth and success.
• Maintain detailed records of outreach, prospecting activity, and pipeline progress using CRM tools (Salesforce).
• Work closely with internal deal professionals, analysts, and marketing to ensure alignment and effective deal execution.

Job Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in B2B sales, business development, or origination role—preferably in M&A, corporate development, or relatable professional services space.
• Highly self-motivated, entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work independently and drive results in a metrics-driven environment.
• Deep understanding of various sales processes and methodologies.
• Strong commercial understanding and awareness of business operations across all industries, with the ability to assess business value and potential.
• Proven track record of building trust-based relationships with C-level executives, business owners, and professional advisors through a successful engagement process.
• Exceptional communication (verbal and written), negotiation, and presentation skills.
• Fundamental grasp of Microsoft 365 products. Salesforce preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
• Ability to obtain a state-specific real estate license within prescribed deadlines.

Salary

The Field Director's on-target earnings are in the range of $250,000 - $300,000 per year.
